Unsaid/Spoken, Selections from the Ella Fontanals–Cisneros and CIFO Collections - Curated by CIFO’s Curatorial Award recipients Moacir dos Anjos and José Roca. In view from December 5 – March 3, 2013.
According to CIFO’s Curatorial Award recipients Moacir dos Anjos and José Roca, “this exhibition brings together work that testifies to the tension between what is yet to be said (or cannot be uttered) and the aftermath of communication, when all has been said and done. Silenced speech, timid elocutions, unintelligible languages, unknown codes, forgotten tongues, the somewhat obscure discourse of science, censorship, and repression, slowly give way to murmurs, connections, bridges, open conversations and conclusive statements. Following an intuitive process of formal association and conceptual juxtaposition, the show intends to be seen as an exercise in curatorial collaboration.”

Pulses of Abstraction in Latin America, Ella Fontanals-Cisneros Collection.
This volume concerning abstraction in the Ella Fontanals-Cisneros Collection is a major step forward in justly demanding a set of discourses that call for a redefinition of modernity and an articulation of an art system in which center and periphery share a balanced and symmetrical correspondence. At the same time, it is our wish that its texts and the work reproduced in it inspire urgent reflections about the shaping of new canons marked by the geopolitical and mercantile dynamics of a world whose complexities, like those of the arts, can never be completely grasped. -Manuel J. Borja-Villel
