November 1, 2017 - CIFO Talk & Book Presentation

Please join us!

On the occasion of the 2017 Grants & Commissions Program Exhibition and in commemoration of CIFO's 15-year anniversary we're hosting a CIFO Talk and anniversary book presentation.

Critically acclaimed artist Daniel Joseph Martinez will be in conversation with PAMM Curator María Elena Ortiz, discussing the artist's prolific practice which spans four decades.

The conversation will be focused on themes such as Martinez's origins, multidisciplinary technique, as well as approaches to language, sources of identity, technology, and his role as an educator and influencer of future generations.

In addition, CIFO Presents NO BLACK, NO WHITE (NO AND): On Latin American Art in the 21st Century.

book presentation

With essays by Cuauhtémoc Medina, José Roca, and Eugenio Valdés Figueroa, the book touches on perspectives of geo-political, social, economic, and cultural structures of Latin American art production within a global context since the turn of the century.

A selection of over 200 images of artwork created for CIFO's program throughout the last 15 years allows the reader to join the authors in interrogating the systems at play in our complex and at times perplexing contemporary environment.

Featured in the book and attending this event are 2017 Grants & Commission awarded artists; Fredy Alzate, Ilich Castillo, Katherine Fiedler, Richard Garet, Ulrik Lopez, and Juan Carlos Osorno.
