Madrid, February 21, 2013 - The Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO Europa) and Turner announced the launch of their latest book collaboration: Pulses of Abstraction in Latin America, The Ella Fontanals-Cisneros Collection on Wednesday, February 13 at ARCO Madrid.

PULSES OF ABSTRACTION IN LATIN AMERICA, offers a didactic and profusely illustrated view on abstract art in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Uruguay and Venezuela, covering a period from 1920-1980. Through a selection of works from the Ella Fontanals-Cisneros Collection, the book dives into one of the most dynamic and vital movements in Latin America. It includes the most extensive selection of recognized photography related to abstraction. It features conceptual schemes, chronologies, essays and a selection of historical documents that contextualize and explain the background and meaning of this artistic movement beyond the strictly visual.

The book of 400 pages and over 250 illustrations with works from the Ella Fontanals-Cisneros Collection, also contains texts by Manuel Borja-Villel (Director of the National Art Museum Reina Sofia, Madrid), Mari Carmen Ramirez (Curator of Art ICAA director of Latin American and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston), Juan Ledezma (art historian and curator at the University of Columbia, New York), Rafael Pereira (former coordinator of the Department of Art History at the University of Central Venezuela, Caracas), Cecilia Fajardo-Hill (Curator of the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach, California) and Jesus Fuenmayor (Director and curator of CIFO).

"We wanted to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Foundation intensifying the CIFO presence in Europe with the launch of this new publication," said Ella Fontanals-Cisneros. "I am proud to present this book to a new international audience through our subsidiary in Europe."
