Gerardo Mosquera
Gerardo Mosquera is a freelance curator and art critic based in Havana, Cuba. He was one of the organizers of the first Havana Biennial in 1984, and was a leading figure of the curatorial team until 1989. Since then, his activity has become mainly international; he has traveled, lectured, and curated exhibitions in more than 70 countries. He has released several books on art and art theory, and his essays have been included in magazines such as ArtNexus, Artforum, and Oxoford Art Journal. A collection of his essays on art, internationalization and cultures was published recently in Madrid. Mosquera was a curator at the New Museum of Contemporary Art (New York) from 1995-2009 and the Artistic Director of PhotoEspaña (Madrid) from 2010 – 2013. His most recent exhibition was Perduti nel paesaggio / Perdidos en el paisaje / Lost in the landscape at the Museo di Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto, Italy in May 2014.
